Drop Off Coats at Person-to-Person or Participating Local Businesses

OPUS for Person-to-Person is pleased to announce our annual coat drive benefiting Person-to- Person’s ‘Keep Norwalk Warm’ program. Beginning Friday, October 2nd through Sunday, October 25th, we will be collecting new and gently used coats in all sizes for adults and children.

Collection boxes are on display at local businesses around town including:

Ring’s End (181 West Ave., Darien and 149 Westport Ave., Norwalk)

Palmer’s Market (264 Heights Rd., Darien)

Make-Modern (1985 Post Rd., Darien)

HAVYN (320 Boston Post Rd., Suite 180, Darien)

The Bar Method Darien (800 Post Rd., Darien)

Dance on the DL (25 Old Kings Highway N, Darien)

Lanphier Day Spa (20 West Ave., Darien)

Sipstirs (1053 Post Rd., Darien)

Nielsen’s Florist and Garden Shop (1405 Post Rd., Darien)

Darien Butcher Shop (13 Grove St., Darien)

Donations are also being accepted at Person-to-Person headquarters at 1864 Post Rd. in Darien (behind St. Luke’s Church) during business hours from 9am-4pm Monday-Friday and 8am-12pm every other Saturday.

The Person-to-Person HQ will also host a drive-through donation day on Saturday, October 10th from 9am-12pm, where volunteers stationed under an outdoor tent will provide a quick and contactless way to drop off coats.

The coats are collected for Person-to-Person’s public ‘Keep Norwalk Warm’ event which occurs annually in partnership between Person-to-Person, Biersdorf and the Norwalk police department. The event to distribute coats is free and open to the public. Typically held in early November, the date, location and additional details of this year’s distribution, including how to register to receive a coat for each family member, will be announced in October. Strict state and local pandemic protocols will be followed.

There is a great need for these new and gently used coats in typical times, and we anticipate even greater demand this year due to the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Last year, Person-to-Person provided over 900 coats to Norwalk city residents in a single day. On behalf of all of the participating organizations and businesses involved in this initiative, we at OPUS for Person-to-Person are so appreciative for all of the coats donated to help share the warmth this season.
